Very few specimens are sampled thus far, all are sampled in the karst habitat near the type locality.	This species is found from the secondary subtropical moist broad-leaf forest on low karstic mountains. But its roost, forage and ecological habit remain unknown.	The threats to this species are not known.	There is inadequate information regarding its population status of the species as it is only known from a few specimens collected at the type locality.	Unknown	Thus far, only known from the type locality, namely Shuifu Village, which is in the vicinity of Maolan National Nature Reserve in Guizhou Province, China (Eger and Lim 2011). Although the presumed records from Jiangxi and Guangdong were reported (Wang et al. 2016), recent phylogenetic analyses indicate they belong to another species with external similarity (Yu W. H. pers. comm.). Terrestrial	There are no known conservation measures in place for this species. It is not known if the species is present in any protected areas. Research is needed in the areas of taxonomy, population status, distribution, biology and ecology, habitat status, and threats.	Indomalayan FALSE	FALSE	Global	Simmons, N. B., & Cirranello, A. L. Therefore, the work does not meet the publication standard for the ICZN (see Article 8.5). The species epithet appears spelled "rongjiangensis" and "rongjingensis" throughout the paper by Chen et al. (2017). Here, we use "rongjiangensis" and treat "ronjingensis" as an incorrect original spelling that is therefore unavailable, since it is clear that the authors' intent was to name the species for the county or town in Guizhou province. "Rongjiiang" appears to be the most commonly used romanized version of the name. See also ICZN 19.3, 32.2.1, and 24.2.3. Mammal Diversity Database. (2025).
