Although there is not much information on the population status or ecology of this species, it is unlikely to meet any of the criteria for Vulnerable or higher listing. It has been reported from at least 10 widely scattered localities from Central Laos and Vietnam to south Laos and Cambodia, such that the known extent of occurrence exceeds 20,000 km2. ; There are no data on population size, but there is no reason to believe it is less than 10,000 individuals, although it does appear to be less common than several other Murina in the region. Although the population has undoubtedly declined due to loss of forested habitat, it has been caught in more than one forest type, and there is no evidence that it has declined fast enough to qualify for listing in a threatened category.	Little is known of the ecology of this species, and no roosting sites have been reported. Records from Lao PDR and Vietnam for which habitat information was reported were captured in harp traps set across trails in wet evergreen hill forest in the Annamite mountains at altitudes of 830m to 1,140m. A specimen from Cambodia was caught in semi-deciduous forest at an altitude of 290m. Most sites involved capture of 1 or 2 individuals, suggesting it likely occurs mainly singly or in small family groups.	Populations have likely declined over the past several decades due to clearing of forest for agriculture or settlements, but without reliable information on habitat specificity, including the extent to which it can use disturbed forests, it is not possible to estimate the extent of habitat loss for the species.	No estimates are available on population size. The species has been caught at 10 localities, with one or two individuals at most sites, but likely occurs in many other locations in between.	Unknown	The species has so far been reported from 10 localities (Francis and Eger 2012, Son et al. 2015) from central Laos and central Vietnam south to Cambodia and south Vietnam. The type locality was Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Khammouan Province, Pha Deng, ~8 km E of Ban Navang (17°57’N, 105°23’E), altitude 1,140 m.	No records of trade in this species. Presumably roosts individually or in small groups, like other members of the genus, which would make it unlikely to be readily captured in significant numbers for consumption or trade.	Terrestrial	Has been reported from reserves or biodiversity conservation areas in all three countries.	Indomalayan FALSE	FALSE	Global	Simmons, N. B., & Cirranello, A. L. (2023).
