Several aspects of the wing morphology and echolocation call design of Murina eleryi collectively suggest its adaptation to foraging in highly cluttered airspaces such as forest interiors and other densely vegetated environments. The species likely roosts in foliage but its occurrence in heavily degraded forest areas also indicates that it is capable of tolerating a degree of habitat disturbance (Furey et al. 2009). In northern Vietnam and likely also neighbouring territories, M. eleryi bears young at the start of the wet season (May–September) and completes weaning in July (Furey et al. 2010).	The current pattern of records of Murina eleryi demonstrates a strong association with forest, therefore forest clearance undoubtedly presents a threat. However, like several other Murina species, M. eleryi is capable of tolerating some habitat disturbance.
The species has a presumed large population and, while it ;is thought to have some tolerance of habitat modification, it is suspected to be experiencing a low level population decline.
Decreasing	This species was described based on specimens from Kim Hy Nature Reserve (Bac Kan province), Khau Ca area (Ha Giang province) and Phu Yen district (Son La province) in northern Viet Nam (Furey et al. 2009). Francis and Eger (2012) reported records from the Bolikhamxai, Houaphan and Khammouan provinces of Laos and specimens from Quang Nam province (Viet Nam) and Shiwandashan National Reserve, Jing Xin County Nature Reserve (Guangxi province) and Shuipu Village (Guizhou province) in China, whereas Son et al. (2015) reported records from Phia ;Oac ;- ;Phia ;Den Nature Reserve (Cao Bang province), Xuan Son National Park (Phu Tho province), Xuan ;Lien ;Nature ;Reserve (Thanh Hoa province), Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park (Quang Binh province), Ngoc ;Linh Nature Reserve (Quang Nam and Kon Tum provinces) and Ba To area (Quang Ngai province) in Viet Nam. Liu et al. (2014) and Xu et al. (2014) assessed specimens from the Hunan, Guangdong (Qixi ;Mountain), Guizhou, Jiangxi (Jiulianshan ;National Natural Reserve) and Guangxi provinces in China. This pattern of records suggests the species is widely distributed in Viet Nam and adjacent areas of Laos and China, although possibly largely in montane forested regions. Terrestrial	There are no species-specific conservation actions known for the species. Given its broad range, it is assumed the species is found in at least one protected area. Research is needed into the species population, trends, ecology, and threats from deforestation.	Indomalayan FALSE	FALSE	Global	Simmons, N. B., & Cirranello, A. L. (2023).
