(2007) from Peninsular Malaysia. It is similar in size and form to Kerivoula hardwickii Miller 1898 or K. intermedia Hill and Francis 1984, but is distinguished by its distinctive colouration as well as several characters of dentition and skull shape (Francis et al. 2007).	20000000	Kerivoula krauensis	Near Threatened	A2c	2020	2015-12-21 00:00:00 UTC	3.1	English
This bat is listed as Near Threatened (nearly meets criterion A2c) because it is dependent upon primary forest, and there is significant past and continuing deforestation going on within its range such that its global populations suspected to have declined at a rate of 25-30% over the past 15 years (three generations; generation length = 5 years; Pacifici et al. 2013); it is close to qualifying for Vulnerable under criterion A2c. The threats are not resolved and the population decline is projected to continue.

All known examples of this bat have been caught in the understorey of mature lowland rainforest. The type specimen was caught over small pools in the stream bed of a seasonal stream in relatively undisturbed forest about a kilometre from the clearing at Kuala Lompat. Other individuals were caught along forest understorey trails, showing no particular association with streams or swamps. Nothing is known of the species’ roosting ecology, although, like other Kerivoula it has not been found to roost in caves in the area (Francis et al . 2007). Recent studies in Indomalayan region showed that this species also was recorded in logged lowland dipterocarp forest in East Kalimantan, and in peat swamp forest in Brunei Darussalam. Although mainly reported in lowland forest, one individual was captured over a stream in montane area (ca 1,600 m asl) in logged-over forest in Sumatra.

Deforestation for agricultural development and forest fragmentation are considered to be major threats. ;All records of the species are from locations in tall rainforest, where the species is reported to be very rare. There are no records from highly disturbed forest (e.g., intensive logging, forest fires), and notably the species was not captured in an intensive survey of 27 forest fragments around the type locality reserve in peninsular Malaysia (Struebig ;et al . 2008). The species may be able to withstand a moderate logging activities but highly disturbed forests are likely to be poor habitat (Struebig ;et al. 2016).

The species is dependent on mature lowland forest and while the abundance and population size of this species are not well known, the global population is suspected to have declined and is continuing to decline due to extensive forest loss in the region.	Decreasing
The type locality for this species is in Peninsular Malaysia: Kuala Lompat, Krau Wildlife Reserve, Pahang Province (3°43’N, 102°10’E). Recent studies extend the range of this species into six new localities throughout Indomalaya: Sekayu Recreational Forest, Terengganu, Peninsular Malaysia (4°43’N, 102°57’E), Hala-Bala Wildlife Sanctuary, Narathiwat Province, Thailand (5°48’N, 101°49’E), Napal Melintang, Jambi Province, Sumatra (1°23’N, 106°53’E), Way Canguk, Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park, Lampung Province, Sumatra (5°39’N, 104°24’E), Sungai Lesan Protection Forest, Kelai Distric of Berau, East Kalimantan (1°36’N, 117°10’E) and Badas peat swamp forest, Brunei (4°35’N, 114°23’E). This species is recorded from scattered localities on the Malay-Thai peninsula, Borneo and Sumatra. In addition to the type locality at Kuala Lompat, Krau Wildlife Reserve, Pahang state, Malaysia (Francis et al . 2007), it has been reported from two other locations on the peninsula: in Hulu Terengganu Tambahan Forest Reserve, Terengganu state, Malaysia (Struebig et al . 2016), and Hala-Bala Wildlife Sanctuary in Narathiwat province, Thailand (Douangboubpha et al . 2014). In Borneo, it is known from the Badas peat swamps in Brunei, and Sungai Lesan in East Kalimantan (Struebig et al . 2016). In Sumatra, there are records from logged montane forest at Napal Melintang, Jambi (Struebig et al . 2016), and Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park, Lampung (Huang et al . 2014). It can be expected to also occur in other parts of these regions at very low densities, but this has not yet been confirmed.
Terrestrial	This species has been collected from Krau Wildlife Reserve. Further studies are needed into the taxonomy, distribution, abundance, natural history and threats to this species. ;Extensive forest surveys in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei over the last 10 years has extent the occurrence of this species to six additional sites, but with only one or two individuals captured at each site.
