We treat Kerivoula malpasi Phillips, 1932 as a synonym of Kerivoula crypta and recognize that further scrutiny is warranted to clarify its taxonomic status (Tu et al. 2018). Simmons and Cirranello (2020) has recognized Kerivoula crypta as a distinct species and do not recognize Kerivoula malpasi as a distinct species.	200000000	Kerivoula crypta	Least Concern 2021	2021-05-05 00:00:00 UTC	3.1	English	Kerivoula crypta is assessed as Least Concern due to its wide distribution, presumed large population, occurrence in a number of protected areas, tolerance of a degree of habitat modification, and because it is unlikely to be declining fast enough to qualify for listing in a more threatened category.	Kerivoula crypta has been found in lowland and montane forests as well as habitat mosaics in modified landscapes including home gardens, agricultural lands and isolated woodlands (Bates and Harrison 1997, Gabadage et al. 2018, Phillips 1932, Wroughton and Ryley 1913). A single male was found roosting in a furled leaf of a banana tree (Musa paradisiaca ) in a secondary forest patch in Sri Lanka (Gabadage et al. 2018).	As a forest dweller, Kerivoula crypta may be vulnerable to deforestation as a result of land conversion to agriculture and other uses within parts of its range (Edirisinghe et al. 2018, Korad et al. 2007).	The abundance, population size and population trends of this species are not known. The species population trend is unlikely to be declining fast enough to qualify for listing in a threatened category.	Unknown	Kerivoula crypta is considered here to be endemic to southern India and Sri Lanka (Tu et al. 2018). The species occupies a wide range of habitats in lowland areas through to montane areas over 1,062 m asl (Gabadage et al. 2018).	The species is not known to be hunted, used, or traded.	Terrestrial	The species has been recorded in protected areas in Sri Lanka. Additional research is needed to determine its population status and trends, threats, and ecology. Further taxonomic research is warranted to clarify the species relationship with K. malpasi .	Indomalayan FALSE	FALSE	Global	Simmons, N. B., & Cirranello, A. L. (2023).
