Head-body 50-2-60 mm, tail 30-1-36-2 mm, ear 20-2-22-8 mm, forearm 55-4-60-2 mm. Greatest lengths of skulls are 21-1-22-1 mm, tibia 21-4-23-3 mm. Nasal septum is slighdy inflated. Upper border of posterior leaf is semicircular and there are three septa forming four noticeable cells on frontal surface, delimited by three vertical septa. Pelage is brownish reddish, with whitish at base of each hair; fur is grayish in ventral part. Baculum is large and robust. Both males and females present frontal sexual sac.	Sorensen’s Leaf-nosed Bat has been reported in caves as well as over ricefields and other agricultural land. Altitudinal range is thought to be up to 1000 m .	Sorensen’s Leaf-nosed Bat probably forages over different types of plantation, feeding predominandy on insects.	Sorensen’s Leaf-nosed Bat forms breeding colonies.	This species is a cave-dweller.	Sorensen’s Leaf-nosed Bats seem to be gregarious, forming colonies of several individuals.	Classified as Vulnerable on The IUCN Red List because this species is only found in a small area. Its e<a style="mso-comment-reference:DW_3;mso-comment-date:20201230T2024">xtent of occurrence (EOO) is 2,240 km²</a> and the karst area is used farming-irrigation, mining, forestry, tourism, and to supply water. The caves are subject to ongoing disturbance from mining, tourism and religious developments.	Hipposideros sorenseni roosts inside caves (Wijayanti et al. 2012, Wijayanti and Maryanto 2017) and can form relatively large colonies. Within a cave, their roost sites tend to be separate from other species (e.g., Rousettus amplexicaudatus, Eonycteris spelaea, Rhinolophus borneensis , and other hipposiderid bats (H. ater, H. diadema and H. bicolor )) that also roost in the cave (Wijayanti and Maryanto 2017). The cave roosts are located in landscapes dominated by agriculture (mixed gardens, rice paddies, and plantations), shrublands, development, and more distant forests (Wijayanti et al. 2012). The species has been documented to feed on at least 17 families in invertebrates and have a preference for Coleoptera, Orthoptera, and Neuroptera (Wijayanti et al. 2012).	The species is at risk from a diverse set of ongoing management and land use actions in the species limited range. There is extensive agriculture and water use in the region, loss of remnant forests, and mining within the species range (Ansori and Puswanto 2011, Wijayanti et al. 2012, Wijayanti and Maryanto 2017), and given the current understanding of the species limited use of caves (one cave as type locality and six other caves as confirmed roosts; Wijayanti et al. 2012, Wijayanti and Maryanto 2017), cave tourism and cave development (Ansori 2011) are major threats that could result in significant harm to the species if a catastrophic even happens at a known roost.	The current status and trends of the species’ global population is unknown as there is no active monitoring. The species can congregate in relatively large colonies and can be relatively common locally (I. Maryanto pers. comm.). There are at least 112 caves in the Gombong Karst Area and the species was documented in six of the 12 caves surveyed (Wijayanti et al. 2012).	Unknown	This species is endemic to Java Island, Indonesia and the entire global population is known from the type locality in Gua Kramat, Pangandaran, West Java and from at least six caves in Gombong Karst Area, Central Java, Indonesia (Kitchener and Maryanto 1993, Wijayanti et al. 2012, Wijayanti and Maryanto 2017). <a style="">Its extent of occurrence (EOO) is ca 2,240 km². ;</a>Despite targeted surveys of the surrounding caves, the species has not been found elsewhere on Java (I. Maryanto pers. comm.). Its elevational range is below 1,000 m asl.	The species is not known to be used.	Terrestrial	This species has been recorded from Pangandaran Nature Reserve, but there are no species-specific conservation actions in place for the species. A comprehensive species conservation action plan is needed. Proactive campaigns to protect and restore the known cave roosts, including community awareness programs, are warranted to secure the species future. Additional research is needed to determine the species broader distribution in the region and alternative roosts. Information on the species population status and trend, distribution, ecology, life history, and threats is needed to inform the species conservation.	Indomalayan FALSE	FALSE	Global	Simmons, N.
