This species has been recorded from coastal lowlands, it appears tolerant of human disturbance and is known to forage in urban areas (where it has most frequently been captured) (Burgin 2019, Bonaccorso 1998). It has been observed roosting in the ceilings of houses in groups up to 20 individuals (Burgin 2019, Flannery 1995a).	The species appears tolerant of human disturbances and is capable of utilising urban areas. Disturbance or persecution of roosting animals and predation by domestic pets may be threats to this species.	The population abundance of this species is not known, but is suspected to be declining at a low rate.	Unknown	This little-known species is endemic to Papua New Guinea, where it has been recorded from south-eastern New Guinea and Samarai Island (10°37'S, 150°40'E) (Flannery 1995a,b; Bonaccorso 1998). It ranges between sea level and 200 m asl.	The species is not known to be hunted, used, or traded.	Terrestrial	It is not known whether this species is recorded from any protected areas, but it is likely to occur in Paga Hill National Park and Variarata National Park. Further studies are needed into the distribution, abundance, natural history, and threats to this species. Museum records need to be reviewed for identification.
