It was only sporadically reported from the mainland Asia but was regularly recorded in Taiwan. The population in Taiwan is believed not to undergo rapid decline, as the forest habitats of this species there are often under protections.	This species occurs in various types of forests with more or less closed canopy, including those dominated by planted coniferous trees. Individuals were observed foraging 0.5-2m above water surface of a small stream near forest in Vietnam (Kruskop and Shchinov 2010). In Taiwan, two collected specimens were obtained from a tunnel (Kuo et al. 2006). Individuals have been observed hibernating in abandoned tunnels in the mountain area with an elevation over 2,300m from November to early March (H.-C. Chang pers. comm.). Pregnant females were recorded in May while nursing ones were recorded from May to July (Kruskop and Shchinov 2010, Cheng et al. 2017b, H.-C. Kuo pers. obs.).	This species appears to be more abundant in Taiwan than in the mainland Asia although further survey work in the latter area is needed for a confirmation. In Taiwan, this species is adapted to different types of forests which are in general under protection. Accordingly, the island’s population may not be under any major threat. In Vietnam, it has been recorded from Hoang Lien Son National Park (Kruskop and Shchinov 2010). Deforestation and transformation might threaten the country’s populations.	The global population is unknown as there are currently no data regarding the population sizes and trends of this species.	Unknown	Disjunctly distributed in Taiwan and Vietnam. In Taiwan, this species occurs in mountain regions with elevations of up to 2,6oo m asl. An estimated extent of occurrence (EOO) in Taiwan is around 13,000 km² (based on total area within a minimum convex polygon around known occurrences there). In Vietnam, this species is currently only reported from two locations (both with elevations of around 2,000 m asl): one in the Ngoc Linh Mt. in Central Vietnam (Kruskop et al. 2006) and the other one near Hoang Lien Son National Park in the Northwestern Vietnam (Kruskop and Shchinov 2010). Terrestrial	Present in many protected areas in Taiwan, including national parks, nature reserves, wildlife refuges and major wildlife habitats. Neither listed as a protected species in Taiwan (Cheng et al. 2017a) nor in Vietnam (Vu Dinh Thong, pers. com.). Studies on its distribution in Vietnam and other countries in the mainland, roost use in the winter and influences of deforestation are recommended.	Indomalayan FALSE	FALSE	Global	Simmons, N.
