It is assumed that these features ensures the stability of the species, and if there is, or has been a recent, population decline that the magnitude or rate of this decline is not sufficient to meet IUCN criteria for a threat category. However, it is important to note that due to a lack of broad-scale, long-term population monitoring, there are no hard data to support or reject this assumption.	It forages in tall, wet forests or rainforest but has also been captured in areas of open woodland, and occasionally in urban environments. It has been recorded roosting in tree hollows and buildings (Tidemann and Parnaby 2008), and at times in nest boxes. Females give birth to a single young.	The species is threatened in parts of its range by habitat loss due to urban development and logging, including the removal of large trees (M. Pennay pers. comm.). Feral and domestic cats are likely to prey on the species.	This species is sparsely scattered in suitable habitat (Tidemann and Parnaby 2008) and is considered relatively uncommon in NSW (Pennay et al. 2011). The population is currently assumed to be relatively stable as there is no evidence of a decline, although there is continuing loss of hollow-bearing trees throughout much of its range and there are no long-term monitoring programs to confirm status or trends.	Unknown	This species is endemic to Australia. It ranges from around Brisbane, Queensland to Melbourne, Victoria, mostly east of the Great Dividing Range, and has been reported also from the Cairns region of Queensland (Tidemann and Parnaby 2008). It is known from sea level to 720 m in Victoria at least (Lumsden and Bennett 1995). Terrestrial	This species has been recorded from a number of protected areas. Further studies are needed into the distribution, abundance, natural history, and threats to this species.	Australasian FALSE	FALSE	Global	Simmons, N. B., & Cirranello, A. L. (2023).
