It is only known from two localities, and at each site the species seems rare, and therefore several basic aspects on its biology are unknown. This species seems to be restricted to very humid forests from Central America; it is necessary to known more details of its ecology before to assess the real risks it faces. A few protected areas occur over that region and they could be covering part of its populations.
This species inhabits the humid Atlantic coastal region of northern Central America, certainly Guatemala and Honduras, but possibly also southern Belize and northern Nicaragua. The area is characterized by humid conditions, high annual rainfall rates and tall tropical rainforest, with trees such as Ficus , Callophyllum , Pouteria , Vochisia , and many others. In Izabal, Guatemala, where this species has been collected, the typical annual rainfall is around 4,000 mm. The area is largely cultivated and many towns and human settlements are present in the area especially near the gulf coast.
	Threats to this species are unknown at this time.	This recently described species is only known from three specimens; no detailed information on its populations or ecology is available.	Unknown
Rhogeessa menchuae is known to occur from the northern limit on the Caribbean coast of Guatemala (near Puerto Barrios) to the southernmost locality on the Atlantic coast of Honduras, near the Guatemalan border. Its distribution likely extends further south into Central America, perhaps as far south as Nicaragua (Baird et al. 2012). ;
 Terrestrial
Some protected areas occur at the region occupied by this species, including wildlife reserves as well as one biosphere reserve (at least). Detailed surveys are needed to assure the presence of ;Rhogeessa menchuae ; at or near these protected areas, as they may be covering an important part of its potential distribution. With eight species in the R. tumida complex being so difficult to tell apart under field conditions, genetic studies turn out to be most accurate way to determine species boundaries, geographical distributions, and relative abundance of all these species.
	Neotropical FALSE	FALSE	Global	Simmons, N.
