Monotypic.	Malay Peninsula, including Langkawi I.	Head—body 51-5—65 mm, tail 14- 7-19 mm , ear 20- 1-26 mm , hindfoot 12-14- 4 mm , forearm 51-9- 56- 1 mm . Dorsal pelage is orangish brown, while ventral pelage is lighter. Ears are moderately large. Noseleaf has a broadly triangular, long, and nearly parallel straightsided lancet; connecting process starts at the tip of the sella and is low and arched; sella is broadly rounded at the tip and broader at the base; horseshoe is wide (11- 6 mm ) and covers the muzzle, with a distinct median emargination. Lower lip has one mental groove. Baculum is similar to that of Pearson’s Horseshoe Bat (. pearsonii ) and is fairly long (3- 3 mm long), having a deep U-shaped emargination and a thick lateral expansion on the ampulla. Skull is large and robust (zygomatic width greater than mastoid width); anterior median swellings are well developed; lateral swellings are less swollen and the posterior swellings are relatively concave; rostral profile is low; frontal depression appears to be relatively shallow; sagittal and supraorbital crests are well developed. C1 is weak; P2 is relatively large and within the tooth row; P3 is minute and extruded from the tooth row, allowing P2 and P4 to touch.	Typically found in hill and lowland dipterocarp forests, at elevations from around sea level up to 1276 m .	No information.	No information.	Call shape is FM /CF/FM with peak F of 53-6-54-7 kHz, duration of 28-4-63-3 milliseconds, and interpulse interval of 32—289 milliseconds, in eastern Peninsular Malaysia .	No information.	Not assessed on The IUCN Red List. The overall range of Chiew Kwee’s Horseshoe Bat is quite small. Deforestation is likely to be a major threat to the species. Little data has been reported on the habitat for the species and no roosts have been identified. However, on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia the species has been captured in secondary diptocarp forests at an elevation of 155 m (Morni et al. 2016).	Threats to the species are unknown. However, it can be assumed that continued deforestation and changing fire regimes in the region are impacting the species given it has been captured in forests.	The status of the global population of the species is unknown, but is suspected to be in decline due to forest loss and broader environmental degradation throughout Peninsular Malaysia. Where encountered, the population density for the species is likely low as capture rates have been <10% (Morni et al. 2016, Jayaraj et al. 2013).	Unknown	Rhinolophus chiewkweeaeis currently recognized as an endemic to Peninsular Malaysia and the holotype was collected at Gunung Ledang, Johor, Peninsular Malaysia in 1998 (Yoshiyuki and Lim 2005, Morni et al. 2016). It is only known from seven localities, six of which were from the west coast (Yoshiyuki and Lim 2005, Jayaraj et al. 2013) with the latest being from the east coast at Sungai Buweh, Tasik Kenyir, Terengganu (Morni et al. 2016). Terrestrial	The species is known from protected areas in Peninsular Malaysia (Jayaraj et al. 2013, Murni et al. 2016). Strengthened protection and management of forests would benefit the species and other forest bats. Additional research is needed on the species population, ecology, life history, and threats.
