This species is listed as Least Concern because it is relatively common within its range, and its habitat is not severely threatened.	This bat is basically frugivorous, however other aspects of its ecology are poorly known. Commonly found in subtropical wet forest habitats in Venezuela ;at elevations ranging from 700 to 2,100 m (Handley 1976), it predominates at highland rain forest approximately 500-1,500 m (Velasco 2005, Lim pers. comm.).	There are no major threats for this species. However, the Guianan HIghlands are heavily affected by deforestation, associated with gold and diamond mining. Most of the species habitat is less vulnerable to logging because of its inaccessibility.	In Venezuela it is rare (Linares 1998). Relatively common in the Guianas (Velazco pers. comm.). Can be locally common (Lim pers. comm.).	Stable	This species is found in the highlands of eastern Venezuela, Guyana and Suriname above 500 m (Velazco 2005). This species is one of the very few bats endemic to the Guianan highlands (Lim pers. comm.). Specimens previously reported from Colombia appear to have been misidentified (Simmons 2005, Velazco 2005). Expected but still unreported from adjacent northern Brazil (Gardner 2008). Terrestrial	Occurs in protected areas in the tepuis. It is necessary to reduce deforestation associated to mining activities.	Neotropical FALSE	FALSE	Global	Simmons, N. B., & Cirranello, A. L.
