It occurs in a wide range of habitats, populations are likely large given the frequencies and distributions of captures.	This species occurs in primary tropical lowland forest, secondary forest, montane forest and village gardens.	It is restricted to just two large islands and smaller satellite islands. Threats to this species are not well known, it is hunted using nets on Malaita and may be threatened by commercial logging in lowland forests.	It is relatively common in lowland primary forest, montane forest, secondary forest and village gardens on Makira and Malaita (T. Lavery pers. comm.) and was one of the most commonly captured species on Mt Tolobusu, East Kwaio Malaita at an elevation of 1,100 m asl.	Unknown	This species is endemic to the islands of Malaita and Makira in Solomon Islands (Simmons 2005). It is also present on smaller satellite islands around Malaita and Makira (e.g. Ugi Island) (T. Lavery pers. obs.).	The species is harvested for food on Malaita Island. Bats are captured using hand-woven nets that are erected in the upper canopy. The method is effective and large captures of bats are frequently reported. Capture rates of this particular species are not available.
